Approved Prior Learning – New Entrants’ Information

Thank you for your interest in our APL MLP Domestic 60 Days (12 Weeks) Training and Assessments Course.

Please note that this course is only available for Catt 2 applicants and a workplace portfolio is now required.

On this course, you will build your portfolio over 25 days of in-centre training and 30 days of on-the-job training alongside a Gas Safe registered engineer. This is followed by 5 days of ACS assessments, which will include Domestic CCN1 and one domestic appliance of your choice.

Additional appliances may be added to this, subject to providing sufficient portfolio evidence towards that appliance. This is subject to an additional cost per appliance.

To demonstrate your APL experience, we require a copy of your NVQ or City & Guilds crafter certificate in a trade associated with gas work.

Managed Learning Programme Course – for New Entrants without Valid Qualifications

Thank you for your interest in our MLP Domestic 80 Days (16 Weeks) Training and Assessments Course.

This course is available to all new entrants into the gas industry, who do not hold any previous gas qualifications. However, a workplace portfolio is required.

On this course, you will build your portfolio over 35 days of in-centre training and 40 days of on-the-job training alongside a Gas Safe registered engineer. This is followed by 5 days of ACS assessments, which will include Domestic CCN1 and one domestic appliance of your choice.

Additional appliances may be added to this, subject to providing sufficient portfolio evidence towards that appliance. This is subject to an additional cost per appliance. All candidates must be able to work alongside a Gas Safe registered engineer while building their workplace portfolio, as we are unfortunately unable to provide this.

Further Training and Assessments

On completion of the MLP, candidates wishing to extend their range or scope of work must have a minimum of six months’ Gas Safe registration before being able to apply for further Training & Assessments in your required field of work.

For instance, a candidate who has undertaken the APL MLP with CCn1 + CENWAT may, after six months, apply to extend their range to include other domestic appliances or extend their scope of work into other fields, such as LPG, industrial commercial heating, or catering.
